AeroDieCut Application: Rounded Corner Cards for a Plastic-Free Future

Uchida’s AeroDieCut has expanded its capabilities with a new application: producing rounded corner cards from thick paper. This innovation provides an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional plastic gift cards, meeting the growing demand for sustainable and customizable promotional materials.

Responding to Environmental Awareness and SDGs
As environmental awareness and interest in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) continue to grow, companies and consumers are increasingly seeking plastic-free alternatives for gift and membership cards. In Europe, in particular, there is a rising interest in creating gift cards using thick paper combined with digital printing technology, allowing for fully customised designs and small production runs.
AeroDieCut addresses this need by enabling the efficient production of high-quality, eco-friendly cards while maintaining the flexibility for customisation.

Paper Specifications for Rounded Corner Cards
For this demonstration, we used:

Two sheets of 310gsm coated paper, printed on one side and laminated together
Final combined thickness: 610gsm

Even cards with this substantial thickness can be processed with AeroDieCut. However, depending on the type and thickness of the paper, some materials may require pre-testing to ensure optimal cutting performance.

Automatic Waste Removal for Improved Efficiency

AeroDieCut also offers an optional waste separator, which automatically removes the waste generated during die-cutting. Even thick, rounded-corner cards can be efficiently separated with this feature, reducing the need for manual labour in post-processing and streamlining overall production efficiency.
