AeroDieCut Application: Sweet Boxes with Fluted Paper

Uchida’s AeroDieCut is designed to handle a wide range of paper materials, and it has now proven its ability to process fluted board, particularly so-called E-flute and G-flute. To demonstrate this capability, we created a sample sweet box cut from flute board, showing how the machine achieves clean, precise results even with corrugated materials.

What Are E-Flute and G-Flute Papers?
Flute board is a corrugated material made by sandwiching a fluted (wavy) layer between flat liner sheets. The flute type determines the thickness, rigidity, and surface finish:
  • E-Flute: Approximately 1.2–1.6 mm thick. Strong yet relatively thin, with a smoother surface compared to standard corrugated board. Often used for retail packaging and lightweight boxes.
  • G-Flute: Approximately 0.9–1.1 mm thick. One of the thinnest flute types, offering fine corrugation for a refined appearance while still maintaining strength. Suitable for compact and premium packaging.

Both flute types are widely used in packaging applications, such as boxes for sweets, cosmetics, or gifts, where strength and presentation are both important.

Demonstration: Cutting a Sweet Box
For this demonstration, we die-cut a foldable sweet box from flute board without any printing applied:
  • The AeroDieCut produced sharp edges and accurate creases, enabling easy folding and assembly.
  • Even detailed features such as tabs and slots were cut with high precision.
  • The finished box was sturdy and well-shaped, suitable for use as packaging for sweets or small items.

Expanding Packaging Possibilities
By processing E- and G-flute materials, AeroDieCut enables new approaches to packaging design, including:
  • Short-run, personalised or seasonal packaging for limited products
  • Custom-sized boxes tailored to specific goods
  • Versatile solutions for industries ranging from food to retail gift items

AeroDieCut makes it practical to produce high-quality corrugated packaging in small batches, offering flexibility for businesses exploring new packaging ideas.
