From Plastic to Paper: Redesigning LePen Packaging with AeroDieCut

Marvy Uchida is well known for its distinguished writing instrument brand, LePen. Traditionally, LePen sets have been presented in durable, transparent plastic cases that emphasise the pens’ vibrant colours and refined design.
In response to the growing emphasis on environmental responsibility, we have developed a prototype paper-based package, utilising our precision die-cutting system for small-lot production, AeroDieCut. This new design retains the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of the original plastic case, while significantly reducing environmental impact.
The package was produced using two separate die shapes, enabling a more robust and detailed construction. Additionally, an internal tab was incorporated to securely hold each pen in place, ensuring stability during transportation and display. This subtle yet thoughtful feature contributes to an enhanced user experience and professional presentation — particularly important for premium writing instruments such as LePen.
AeroDieCut also offers exceptional design flexibility. When combined with digital printing, it allows for the creation of full-color, customized packaging from as little as a single sheet. This capability opens the door to a wide range of applications, including promotional packaging, limited editions, and personalized designs — providing marketers and creators with greater creative freedom and efficiency.
Whether you are considering more sustainable packaging options, exploring a new design concept, or seeking to differentiate your product through presentation, we would be pleased to support your efforts. AeroDieCut is ideally suited for stationery, product packaging, point-of-sale displays, and other paper-based applications.
