On April 8th, I have posted one article that introduces our new models of friction paper folder EZF-100 and EZF-200.  (Uchida new models of friction paper folders – Part 1)

On this article, I would like to show the other new models of friction paper folder: EZF-500 and EZF-600.

We are going to launch EZF-500 as replacement of F-43N, and EZF-600 as F-47N successor.

What are the special features?

+ Folding Speed

As with EZF-100/200, EZF-500/600 can fold 14,400 sheets per hour as maximum. Compared with F-43N/F-47N, more 60 sheets can be folded in a minute!


+ Color touch screen

Our new models EZF-500/600 can be operated via the color touch screen. You can see setting, jam map, counter and so on in the screen. It would bring you easier operation to you.

+Double feed detection

Thanks to double feed detection sensor, you can prevent double feed and miscounting materials.


+More memories for Odd-size paper

With current models F-43N/F-47N, 3 kinds of folding pattern of odd-size paper could be memorized. Meanwhile, EZF-500 have 12 kinds, EZF-500 have 24 kinds of memories.

You need not set again many times every time you fold odd-size paper.

When we think about photos it has changed a lot in the last 20 years, when appeared the first digital cameras and the way to shot and keep photos in our memory turned by paper to SNS medias, like Instagram and Pinterest.

It was common to reveal a camera film, so we went to photo lab and after some days (I said days, not hours) we back to get these. And that moment to check the pictures was very apprehensive and surprised due we did not exactly know how the photos were: sometimes too dark, too light, damaged, burned in the corners, unfocused, etc. We just realized the quality in this moment and unfortunately there was not another way to retry a new one, because the film was able to be revealed just once.

With digital cameras the shots became trivial and the magic moment of surprise disappeared in the first moment, due was too banal to: take a photo, check in the screen, edit or simply delete it. Finally we did not need a special photo lab, we could do everything by ourselves. Also main of people preferred to store the pictures just digitally and the revelation was used just for special occasions, like: wedding ceremony, graduation party, birthday and so on.  It was incremented when mobiles started to take pictures too.

Fortunately this cycle changed again and from a few years to now the revelation gained a good way to be used: photobook. It is a super idea to conciliate paper photo, from a special moment and accessible price. You could use ready templates and apply a theme for your moment, turning it in a unique one. Also you have the own author feelings, due you can DIY (do-it-yourself) and only one unit of production, deeply special.

Although, for this use the conventional minilab (chemical process) revelation is not the best way, because we are talking about a book in the essence. Also digital minilab (evolution of conventional one) has the same point, used for separate photography. Drylab could be a solution, but the high cost of final photo is impeditive. Conclusion: digital printer.

With digital printer it is possible to achieve the same photo quality level through RGB-colours, several kinds of paper quality and thickness, production speed and optimize paper format. Beyond, thinking about photobook, you can print in one-pass 2 images to be folded and turn in a page front and back sides, for example.

For sure, to guarantee the excellent and precise finishing which a photo requires, a properly equipment is necessary and in this case AeroCut Series from UCHIDA has been much more common and used. Due the register sheet-a-sheet with automatic correction, no need dedicated operator while machine is running, automatic feeding system, automatic stacking system, automatic setup of tools and smoothly silent operation.

Additionally with AeroCut Series creasing is available to use in photobooks just clamped by hard cover or even for binding and stitching. This crease system has male/female tools enabling a perfect folding for long years without any scratch or damage for the paper.

Versatile use of AeroCut Series, some photo labs is already using for pictures 10x15cm (4”x6”) where it is possible to use until 9 (nine) images in a sheet, resulting in a great low cost of production and stable running job. It is much more professional and has much more advantages then use linear guillotine (see article with this comparison: Digital finishing: turns your business more profitable).

This combination of use, between digital printer and AeroCut Series is make a revolution to print photos, due the production cost is at least 3 times lower than conventional minilab, until 10 times lower than digital minilab and over 15 times lower than drylab. Furthermore our process is: no chemicals, no specialist operator, no temperature and humidity environment controlled, no huge plant floor required, no 3-phase infrastructure, etc. Besides the perfect cutting (and creasing when needed) we can provide a clean, easy, practice and future tendency solution.
